Budget design
A single working budget for the year, built around your actual calendar of events and dues cycle.
Polaris Advisory
We help student-led clubs, teams, and nonprofits build a real budget, raise money that actually arrives, and stay on the right side of the paperwork. Run by students who have already done it.
The whole money side
Dues in one spreadsheet, a fundraiser total someone remembers, and a treasurer who graduates in June. We put it in one place and leave behind a system the next officer can actually run.
Line items tied to real events, a reserve you don't touch, and a monthly check that takes fifteen minutes.
We work backward from what you need, then pick the two or three channels that will get there.
Guidance on 501(c)(3) status, school and district rules, and what your records need to show.
Documented accounts, templates, and a one page brief so next year's officers start where you left off.
What we do
A single working budget for the year, built around your actual calendar of events and dues cycle.
Campaign planning, sponsor outreach templates, and a simple way to track who gave and who to thank.
Plain guidance on 501(c)(3) questions, recordkeeping, and the filings that catch student groups off guard.
We look at where the money is going and find the spending that isn't buying you anything.
Working sessions with your treasurer and president so the system belongs to them, not to us.
Connections to other student organizations, local sponsors, and groups that have solved the same problem.
How it works
Order matters here. Each step depends on the one before it, and most organizations move through all four in about six weeks.
A short call to see what you run, what you spend, and where the money currently lives. No documents needed yet.
We map your events, dues, and deadlines onto one budget, then set the fundraising target that closes the gap.
Tracker, templates, and a compliance checklist set up in your own accounts, so nothing depends on us staying involved.
We train your officers on the system and write the brief that gets passed to whoever holds the role next.
Who we help
About Polaris
We are a student-run advisory group in Northern Virginia. We build the financial groundwork for other student organizations because we spent enough time rebuilding our own from scratch every fall.
The organizations that last aren't the ones with the best ideas. They're the ones that never lose track of their money.
